The Godhead (aka; 'Trinity')

The last rays of merciful light, the last message of mercy to be given to the world, is a revelation of His (God's) character of love....

(COL p 415,416)

Here's some personal thoughts on a growing controversy; the Godhead (I prefer the term 'Godhead' to 'Trinity' as I think using trinity plays into the hands of those that oppose the doctrine of the Godhead)

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:(Rom 1:20)

All 3 persons of the Godhead were involved in creation, and therefore God:

Gen 1:2

John 1:1-3

Isa 40:25,26

The Word was God.....the Word became flesh

John 1:1

John 1:14

This is really the crux of the matter, that God took sin upon himself, in humanity. He didn't create someone else to do it for him. The last conversation I had with some JW's a few years ago was very interesting. We know they believe that Jesus is a lesser 'god' and their bible twists John 1:1 stating that the word was 'a' god...but they also believe that Jesus didn't fully take on humanity, only taking the unfallen nature of Adam. What does this prove? both the belief that Jesus is God and that Jesus 'took' fallen humanity are linked;

1 Timothy 3:16
"And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh..."

To deny the divinity of Christ is to also deny the incredible truth that Christ (God) 'took' humanity. My prediction? many of our theologians that hold to this idea that Christ took the unfallen nature of Adam exclusively, will also end up rejecting the divinity of Christ

"For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him." John 3:34

"The power of evil had been strengthening for centuries, and the submission of men to this satanic captivity was amazing. Sin could be resisted and overcome only through the mighty agency of the Third Person of the Godhead, who would come with no modified energy, but in the fullness of divine power. It is the Spirit that makes effectual what has been wrought out by the world's Redeemer. It is by the Spirit that the heart is made pure. Through the Spirit the believer becomes a partaker of the divine nature. Christ has given His Spirit as a divine power to overcome all hereditary and cultivated tendencies to evil, and to impress His own character upon His church." Desire of Ages p671

We probably underrate the role of the Spirit in the incarnation. If Christ surrendered to a degree his Divinity by taking humanity, perhaps the Spirit is an essential agent in the plan of salvation, making the Godhead all the more logical in this context. Christ was born of the spirit….

Anyway, these are just some thoughts, any comments are more than welcome...
